i so often have people ask me what is up with the nickname "Wolfman" so i thought i would sum it up...
first of all i got the nickname wolfman from my buddies in the gym because i was a big burly guy with a year long beard. there you go that's how the nickname started.
Wolfman quickly turned from a nickname to an alter ego. more people knew me as Wolf than my actual name, and the more it was used the more it took shape into becoming who i was. there are various reasons why the name stuck other than just a beard. one reason was the way i trained. it was like a switch was flipped as soon as it came down to training and the Wolfman took over and fed my intensity in the gym and in essence just like the old monster movie i would turn into a monster for a short period of time while i was training. it was like something was taking over and making me push harder and harder to achieve my goals.
but there was another reason why i let the name stick... i needed to get outside of myself, my ego and my past reputations and make something new. growing up in small town U.S.A i had a reputation that was mostly smoke screens for what lied beneath the surface of who i was. sure i was the typical high school kid that made terrible choices ran around like i was invincible. but i was determined not to make that who i was as an adult. so i moved out of small town U.S.A and made something new and made a new me in essence. it took me several years of being in Georgia to establish myself and sure there was bumps along the way. but having an awesome support team like my wife, step daughter, and my family back home made me push harder and harder to become who i truly was. it wasnt until i got the nickname wolfman that i saw a chance to start over and make something new, so i let the Wolf take over. it was my avenue to take a new path and direction and establish something that was already taking shape by no creation of my own. like i said more people knew about The guy they called Wolfman than John Dobbs. and it was an opportunity to start fresh in a new town we had just moved to and start something great. i said at the end of 2013 that i was starting a new years revolution rather than a resolution and that is exactly what i did. a chance at something new, a chance at something great, and a chance to help others. over the past year i have made life long friends that have become more like family. i feel that i have reached out to more people this year than any other year i have been alive. sure Wolfman is kind of a silly nickname but it sums me up pretty well and letting the wolf inside me out was the best thing i could have done. i think about where i would be if it wasn't for making that choice a year and a half ago to get off my ass and put the bullshit behind me and push forward for my future. so this is me sure i am still John but the Wolfman isnt going anywhere either.
this has been an awesome year and i wanted to give everyone who has been a part of making this year great my gratitude and sincerest thank you for pushing me harder and harder and making me achieve things that wouldnt have been possible without the amazing support of each of you.
so what is next??? what is in store for 2015???..... well let me tell you i will walk into this new year like a beast and leave as a giant... some serious goals have been led onto for this next year and i am keeping most of them to myself. but i will tell you this... you thought 2014 was my best year? just wait until 2015! this will be a big year for myself, my wife, and my family. this will be our year. 2014 was just prep for 2015. i have surrounded myself with great people and i have weeded out those who will not stand behind me in my trials. i have all systems in place for a great year and i am ready to see what is in store.
i also wanted to give everyone a quick training update... the beginning of Nov. i hit my 100lbs weight loss mark. it was sort of bitter sweet. i had worked my ass off literally and figuratively speaking . it was awesome because i lost 100lbs in a year but i felt farther and farther way from my training goals as far as strength goals are concerned. as soon as i got below 210lbs my strength was taxed. i felt weak and felt like i was making reverse progression as far as strength goes. so i changed things up ALOT! i started eating about 5500-6500 calories a day. and my weight is back up to 230lbs and i feel great! strength is back better than it was when i was at 275lbs... my training has been intense and often. but i feel great and things have been falling into place as they should. a lot of people have been asking what training program i am using so i thought i would share. i have been using a modified west side platform with a mix of Russian volume training. the reason i chose to combine these methods is because i needed to add mass and strength and by combining both in the same plan it has really packed on some serious mass and also made my strength shoot up relatively quickly. also i am incorporating some powerbuilding lifts in with my program. again for mass adding purposes. and if anyone would like to ask questions about my training or would like the plan i am using please feel free to ask!
