ok sort of a rant but whatever its my blog. there is a pattern i have seen with many lifters. they lose sight of what they are doing and get caught up in other things. i am here to tell you it doesnt matter what diet plan you are on, what supplements you are taking, or what workout method you are doing. when it comes right down to it getting back to the barbell is all the really matters. work on your form and your technique and move some weight! yes diet plans are important but eating 300 grams of protein without training hard isn't going to make you stronger or bigger. yes taking supplements will help your progress but taking 5 grams of creatine wont make you stronger or bigger without training like an animal. yes training programs and methods are awesome and they work if you do them correctly but again if you aren't willing to put your money where you mouth is and lift that weight you aren't going to get bigger or stronger. we all started in the same place in a gym with weight in our hand and fire in our eyes. why does that get lost so quickly? there is nothing you can take or do that will increase your deadlift other than well.... deadlifting! its as easy as that. if you want bigger arms you train arms. if you want your bench to go up you work your chest and the assisting muscles to increase your strength. i am not dogging any body that uses supplements (i take supplements to) and i am not telling you to not follow a diet plan (i also track my nutrition) and i am not saying dont follow a method or workout plan (i write my own). all i am saying is dont lose sight of your progress with the barbell and the weight. 200lbs will always be 200lbs that is never changing. the most frustrating thing to me is seeing a lifter with so much potential start lifting and make huge gains by training hard and he is all about lifting and training. but then all of sudden he becomes about supplements, diet and lifting. then he just becomes about supplements and diet and forgot where he started this journey. training and lifting is all about balance. i balance my diet based upon training. i balance my supplementation based on my training. i balance my work out programs and methods based on my training. you wont ever hear me say that i balance my training on my supplementation! that doesnt make sense! moral of the story get back to basics! no dont stop dieting, or using supplements but dont lose sight of what really matters. the weight coming off the ground or off the rack.
